Matt is a licensed psychotherapist with over 10 years of experience working with individuals, couples, and families. He has worked with both adolescent and adult clients in office, school, and community health settings and is passionate about helping people overcome life’s challenges. He is dedicated to helping clients to find long-term solutions to their presenting problems while building and strengthening emotional bonds with those important to them. Matt holds a masters degree in social work (MSW) with clinical emphasis from the University of Connecticut. He focused his studies on marriage and family therapy as well as working with the LGBTQ+ population. In addition to working with adults on issues such as depression, anxiety, and relationship issues, Matt has passion and experience working with teens – particularly teens who struggle socially and feel misunderstood.

Matt takes a hybrid solution-focused and experiential approach to therapy. He employs several methods in his practice including Solution-Focused Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, Emotionally-Focused Therapy and Internal Family Systems. In addition, he incorporates body-centered and mindfulness techniques into his practice. Matt a certified facilitator for Circle of Security Parenting™, an attachment-based parenting model for fostering healthy emotional growth in children. He is also certified in the Men’s Trauma Recovery and Empowerment Model (M-TREM), a group therapy approach for men who have experienced physical, emotional, or sexual abuse. Matt is certified as a Qualified Supervisor with the state of Florida, providing supervision for new therapists working toward their license.

Prior to becoming a therapist, Matt worked as a music teacher in both public and private school settings. He holds a bachelors degree in education with a focus in music from Murray State University, and a masters degree in instrumental performance from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He has twice performed in Carnegie Hall and performed for 4 years as a bassoonist with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra in Hartford, Connecticut.
